GENERAL: The Katie L. Todaro
Scholarship fund has been established for the purpose of providing
scholastic financial aid to Northwest Guilford High School students
who participated in the marching band program during their high school
career. This aid will be awarded to eligible individuals entering an
accredited institution of higher learning. There will be one
scholarship awarded each year in the amount of $ 1,000.00 to a
qualified graduating senior. The award will be renewable for up to
three additional years provided the candidate meets renewal
requirements.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
Completed applications must be submitted to the Northwest Guilford
High School director of Bands prior to March 1st in the
year of intended fall enrollment. To obtain an application form and

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA: The Katie L.
Todaro Scholarship will be awarded without regard to other
scholarships which the recipient has received or might receive.
Scholarship awardees will be selected without regard to race, creed,
color, sex, age, or religious affiliation. In addition, the award
will be made without restriction to the awardees choice of institution
of higher learning or major course of study.
BASIC
ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for award of the Katie L. Todaro
Scholarship, the applicant must:
- Be a citizen of the United States.
- Be a graduating senior of Northwest Guilford High School.
- Be eligible for admission to the college or university
of his or her choice by meeting all admissions requirements for that
institution.
- Have participated in the Northwest Guilford High School
marching band program for a minimum of 3 years during their high
school career. Transfers students who can provide documentation of
marching band participation at their previous high school will be
considered.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Provide two sealed letters of recommendation, one of
which should be from a current or recent high school teacher.

SELECTION OF
RECIPIENT: The scholarship committee of the Northwest
Guilford Viking Band Boosters will convene during the spring semester
to determine the recipient of the scholarship for the following fall
term.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: Upon receipt of admissions confirmation
from awardees selected institution the award funds shall be directly
paid to the university on the student’s behalf. Scholarship aid must
be applied to the direct expense of college, e.g., tuition, books,
fees, room and board, etc. No funds will be directly paid to
awardees.
