Dear Students and Parents,
October 17, 2009 marks the 28th anniversary of the Northwest
Viking Fall Festival. The Fall Festival, a marching band
competition hosted by the Northwest Guilford Band Boosters, is our
most significant fundraising event the year. As always, the
success of this event is important to the entire band program.
We annually host 10 - 20 bands from North Carolina and Virginia ranging from 50 to 200
marchers each. It was a huge success because of the help of
the many band students and families. The logistics of holding
this event are extensive. With the right delegation and
assistance from our students and parents this year’s festival will
not only be profitable, but will run smoothly and be an enjoyable
experience for all.
Volunteers are needed in several areas. Many jobs involve some preparation before
the festival and manning a position on the day of the festival while
some jobs are completely done prior to the festival. So please have
a look at what is needed this season and
sign-up to do your part as soon as possible.
Selling advertising in the Fall
Festival Program. Program Ad sales will not only help
offset the expenses of printing the book, but will allow you to earn
student incentives as well! (40% of your advertising sales will be
credited to your student incentives account. For example, if
you sell $500 of advertising, your student incentive account will be
credited $200 to be used to pay your band trip expenses!)
The
Program Ad Sales Form contains all the information you need to solicit advertising
sponsors. We have also included a Letter from Mr. McMath for
Program Ad Sales explaining why you are soliciting the
advertisement.
Sales should be easy if you just go give it a try. Extra copies of this form will be available
in the wall brackets just inside the band room door, or copies can
be obtained: Program Ad Form.
As with the band program, success
with ad sales will require you to commit the time, energy and effort
to do a good job.
Good luck!!!
Let’s work hard together to make Northwest Marching Band Fall
Festival a HUGE success.
Sincerely,
The Fall Festival Committee
