


Concert Band
The Concert Band is one of the three concert ensembles for students registered at Northwest Guilford HS. This ensemble is composed primarily of freshmen and sophomores and is offered when instrumentation is available. It is possible to audition for Honors Credit for this class! The ensemble gives three concerts per year and travels to the North Carolina Music Performance Assessment (MPA) each March and performs in Grade III & IV music. This group has consistently received Excellent and Superior ratings at MPA.
The Symphonic Band is one of three concert ensembles offered and students may audition for Honors Credit all four years of high school. The ensemble consists of freshman through seniors. It is possible to receive Honors Credit for this class! The ensemble gives three concerts per year and travels to the North Carolina Music Performance Assessment (MPA) each March in Grade IV & V music. This group has consistently received Excellent and Superior Ratings at MPA.
Symphonic Band
Wind Ensemble
Almost 90% of this ensemble’s members are in the Viking Marching Band. The same percentage of students in this ensemble are also involved in or have been involved in private lessons with an area professional. Students may audition for Honors Credit all four years of high school. The Wind Ensemble at Northwest performs music from the Grade V & VI category at North Carolina Music Performance Assessment (MPA) in March. They have consistently received Superior ratings at the NC MPA.
