To Foster the Growth of Empathy and Self-Belief through the Creation of Living Art

Tyson Sessoms is a native of Alamance County, North Carolina where he began playing trumpet and attended Eastern Alamance High School. He is a fourth year music education major at the University of North Carolina Greensboro where he studies trumpet under Dr. Garrett Klein. In his time at UNCG, Tyson has competed in the National Trumpet Competition, International Trumpet Guild and also performed with the nationally recognized UNCG Wind Ensemble on their 2025 tour across the Southeast to perform at the annual College Band Director National Association (CDBNA) Conference.

 

As well as going into Tyson’s 3rd year with Northwest Guilford, he also serves as a brass instructor for C.E. Jordan High school in Durham, North Carolina. Post-graduation, Tyson plans on pursuing a career as a high school band director.
